According to a report, the Miami Heat are working out the 30-year old guard who previously came to camp with the team in 2008.
Have confirmed that former South Carolina point guard Tre Kelly (30) has been working with Heat and could be 20th and final player for camp.— Ira Winderman (@IraHeatBeat) September 18, 2015
Kelley, undrafted in 2007 has spent plenty of time playing in plenty of places, but not in a NBA game. He's even played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the team the Heat manage in the NBDL. The move would make the training camp roster full, and make a stockpile of guards.
Already with Goran Dragic, Mario Chalmers, Tyler Johnson, Josh Richardson -- the Heat have added Corey Hawkins and John Lucas III and now seemingly Tre Kelley -- all who play point guard. Could this be something that signals moves for Mario Chalmers or possibly pushing him to keep his place on the roster?
The Heat will open up camp on September 29 and will play their first preseason game on October 4.
Fun Fact: Tre's first name is really Alfrie.
