Just hours after the Miami Heat officially signed versatile forward Greg Whittington to their training camp roster comes a report from Shams Charnia of Real GM that they will also be adding former VCU guard Briante Webster.
With the addition of Weber, the Heat's roster will stand at 19 with just one spot left to reach the maximum allowed for training camp.
Weber's collegiate career with the VCU Rams ended in January after suffering a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus in a late January loss to Richmond and subsequently went undrafted. He averaged 7.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.8 steals for the Rams in his senior year and was just 12 career steals away from breaking the all-time NCAA record.
No contract details have been confirmed but it is likely a non-guaranteed deal similar to Whittington's which will allow Weber to become eligible to join the Heat's D-League affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce should he be cut from the Heat. The team also previously signed Keith Benson and Corey Hawkins to similar deals.
