The Miami Heat starting center makes personal plea for All-Star votes.

A Message from The People’s Champ, Hassan Whiteside #NBAVote

In case you weren't impressed with Hassan Whiteside's stats in his first full season with the Miami Heat, the center is promising that he will indeed play the same brand of defense, including swatting any shots that come his way, if he is voted as a starter for the 2016 All-Star game.

In the video produced by Bleacher Report, Whiteside proclaims to be "The People's Champ" because of his dedication to defense.

Whiteside is averaging a double-double of 12.1 points and 11.1 rebounds along with his league-leading 3.8 blocks per game and though his production has been a bit inconsistent this year, the prospect of the big man ruining the annual display of half-hearted defense at NBA All-Star games would certainly be a sight to see.

If he doesn't get voted in as a starter, perhaps this video will help his case with NBA coaches who vote on the reserves.

The final day for fans to vote for starters is Monday, January 18. Starters will be announced live on TNT during a special one-hour edition of TNT NBA Tip-Off on Thursday, January 21 and reserves will be announced on January 28 live on TNT.
