Preview: Heat (9-18) host Celtics (14-12)

New, comment

Miami faces a tough opponent that has already won at AA Arena this season.

Game Story:

The Miami Heat were unable to secure their first three-game win streak of the season as the more talented (and healthier) Los Angles Clippers outlasted them Friday night for yet another home loss and a disappointing 4-9 record at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Now they must host another tough opponent in the Boston Celtics, led by a healthy Isaiah Thomas averaging a team-leading 26.0 ppg and 6.1 apg. They will certainly test the Heat, who are battling a nonstop rash of injuries dating back to the preseason. Once Justise Winslow and James Johnson returned from injury earlier this week, Tyler Johnson was day-to-day with an illness and Wayne Ellington was lost midway through the Clippers game with a right hamstring strain. Both players are listed as questionable for tonight (though Ellington interestingly is still listed under “probable starters” in the Heat’s game notes) and Dion Waiters (groin, pectineus tear) has already been ruled out.

For Boston, former Heat guard Gerald Green (hip) is day-to-day. They recorded a 112-104 win at AA Arena on Nov. 28, marking their fourth straight win against the Heat.

numberFire’s metrics currently give Miami a 57.4% chance to win. Here is a full breakdown of projections for the game, which will be updated today with any news or player injury updates.
