Game 2 Preview: Heat look to pounce on Hornets

New, comments

The Miami Heat have the chance to take a commanding 2-0 series lead as the host the Charlotte Hornets for Game 2.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Heat made a statement in Game 1, winning by 32 points, they largest in the First Round. By Heat players know very well, that's in the past. Game 2 is ahead and they start tied at 0. Miami still has the pressure on them to hold serve at home and win Game 2 in Miami.

3 Keys to the Game

1. Adjust
The Hornets are going to make adjustments. They lost by 32 points in Game 1, they will make changes. Most notably will be how they guard Hassan Whiteside. But the Heat will have to make the in-game adjustments to excel in this game. This will be up to Spoelstra, but the Heat can't expect to play the same game.

2. Get Goran going
He's about the only one who didn't have a stellar Game 1. He played well, but maybe it was his new mouth guard. The Heat need Dragic to get into the paint, cause issues and force the defense to change. When he does this, they are lethal.

3. Screen & Roll defense
This will be the thing that will eat Miami if they get lazy on defense. With Kemba and Batum, the Hornets are really good at getting around the screen. Miami has to continue to show, rotate and stop them from getting what they want. Do this, and Charlotte has to get creative on offense.
