The Miami Heat are reportedly on the verge of completing a multiyear contract extension with coach Erik Spoelstra, leagues sources have told The Verge.

Spoelstra has just completed his eight season as the head coach of the Heat after spending several years with the franchise, first in the video room and later as an assistant coach to Pat Riley. He has compiled a 399-241 (.623) regular-season and 70-43 (.619) playoff record, winning back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.

Though only 45 years old, Spoelstra is the second-most tenured coach behind only San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.
