The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reported today that the newly waived forward Caron Butler could rejoin the team that drafted him, the Miami Heat.

Butler, who spent his first two seasons with the Heat before heading to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Shaquille O'Neal trade, played in just 17 games last year for the Sacramento Kings. And he is 36 years old. But for a team that just lost Luol Deng and Joe Johnson, Butler could emerge as a nice player to mentor Justise Winslow, who will likely have added responsibility next year.
Moreover, the Heat have expressed interest in a Butler reunion in years past. Assuming Miami re-signs Dwyane Wade, all of the Heat's salary cap space will go towards Hassan Whiteside, Chris Bosh, Goran Dragic and Wade. Butler is the type of veteran Miami will still be able to sign.
