Miami Heat Managing General Partner Micky Arison posted a letter to Heat fans Thursday evening.
Arison thanks the fans for their support before looking ahead to the future. In his letter, Arison says that it will be "joyous homecoming" when the Heat retire Wade's jersey. That should come as no surprise to anyone -- Wade's done the most for the Heat organization out of anyone. Besides, if the Heat are going to retire Shaquille O'Neal's jersey, they should also retire No. 6 for LeBron James.
He mentions Chris Bosh as a part of a team "I'm confident you will enjoy watching" this season. Because of Bosh's uncertain health status, that stands as possibly the most noteworthy element of the letter.
Above all, this messaging from the team's owner reflects the #HeatLifer campaign from the 2014-15 season. Arison also wrote a letter to the Heat fanbase then. In fact, both letters mention that Pat Riley says that one of the only things you can count on in life is change.
It shouldn't come as a surprise -- Heat fans are grappling with the losses of two franchise players in two years, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. With each of these letters, Arison seeks to reassure the fanbase that Riley will continue to put together a competitive team. We'll just have to wait until the season to see how well this decidedly younger Heat team does.
