Heat looking to hold training camp in Bahamas

New, comments

The Heat held their training camp in the Bahamas three years ago.

The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reported that the Miami Heat are hoping to hold their training camp in the Bahamas. Nothing is definite, but the off-season is rapidly coming to a close, so the Heat will have to make a decision soon.

If that first sentence sounds familiar, that's because the organization has done business in the collection of islands before. The Heat opened their 2013 training camp, fresh off consecutive NBA titles, at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort. Last year, the team sent starting forward Luol Deng to the Bahamas to train for the season. Members of the Heat dancing team and team executives then headed there for promotional activities.

Last season, the Heat held training camp at Florida Atlantic University's Boca Raton campus. For the 2010-11 season, the Heat held their training camp at an Air Force base in the Florida panhandle.

We'll have to see whether the Heat can pull it off and hold their training camp in the Bahamas or stay in South Florida.
