Dwyane Wade to visit Heat Nov. 10

The Heat will also have Christmas Day off for the first time since 2008.

The player who became synonymous with the Miami Heat franchise will play in the AmericanAirlines Arena as a visitor for the first time Nov. 10. It will also be his only time playing in Miami next season.

Yes, Dwyane Wade will put on his Chicago Bulls uniform in Miami early in the season and won't return again, according to a preliminary NBA schedule for the 2016-17 season. The provisional schedule also does not list the Heat as playing on the NBA's marquee set of Christmas Day games. Miami has played on Christmas since the 2009-10 season, bridging the Big Three era.

The schedule could change before the official schedule release next week, but it sets the Heat season opener Oct. 26 against the Orlando Magic. The Heat would play their home opener Oct. 28 against the Charlotte Hornets, the team Miami defeated in the first round of the playoffs last year.

This roster represents a firm break for Pat Riley, who tried after LeBron James' departure to piece together a competitive team. That's why he threw max money at Chris Bosh, signed Luol Deng and traded for Goran Dragic. But with Wade's departure, the Heat have opted to go younger, keeping Tyler Johnson and promoting Justise Winslow to the starting three spot. With such a young team, the NBA executives probably didn't know if featuring the Heat on Christmas would be a good selling point -- the only exception being if it was Wade's return to Miami.
