Despite having left the beaches of Miami for Chicago, Dwyane Wade is still making an impact on Miami's communities. Today it was announced that there would be a D.Wade CommUNITY Bike Ride in Coconut Grove on September 17th in conjunction with the city of Miami and Florida Department of Transportation.

It's no secret that Wade's family has encountered recent tragedy after his first cousin, Nykea Aldridge was gunned down in Chicago last week. According to Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel, the six mile bike ride is being used to "help bridge the gap between the police and the community by reinforcing the need for a safe and connected community working together with a sincere understanding of each other's positions and mutual respect."

As a result the Miami's Police Department will ride with Wade in the event. The event is free of charge and will take place on September 17th at 8AM. Dwyane Wade has always been vocal of social issues, and it is great to see him still involved in a community where his influence will always be greatly felt.
