According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Justise Winslow has been making strides from beyond the arc while working with a shooting specialist. Jackson cites an unnamed Miami Heat staffer, who explained that we’ll be seeing a major difference in Winslow’s shooting this season.
Additionally, Winslow refused to name the shooting coach, but saying that he’s pretty pleased with his progress so far. Winslow explained his progress saying: “Just smoothing things out. I am pretty confident. I like the way it’s going.”
Winslow will be essential for Miami this season with veterans, Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng and Joe Johnson gone. With that being said, he seems determined to become a force, saying in a podcast: “It's my turn. Embrace the opportunity. Try to make this a year to make the front office feel confident in building around me for the future. I'm looking forward to the green light. My role is going to be so much bigger. I have to learn how to step up vocally.”
Winslow is an elite defensive player, so his offensive improvements will help the Heat exponentially. There really is a possibility that Winslow becomes the face of the franchise over the next few seasons and it should be incredibly fun to watch.
