Sources have reported that Heat guard, Josh Richardson suffered a partially torn MCL in workouts today. This of course comes as an awful setback for the sophomore guard who came into his own last season and played some great minutes in the playoffs. As someone who has dealt with knee injuries, it’s important to note that the MCL does heal on its own.
Basically in terms of knee injuries it’s the best thing that could have happened to Richardson because his ligament is only partially torn. From here his recovery program should consist of rehab to make sure he’s stabilized in that knee, and then an eventual return to the court. It shouldn’t be a very long recovery, and I’d be shocked if he wasn’t ready for the start of the regular season.
Josh addressed the injury on Twitter:
Thanks everyone for the tweets and texts. I see them. I'll be back asap no worries— Josuelito (@J_Rich1) September 9, 2016
Richardson averaged 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and shot 46.1 percent from beyond the arc in his rookie season.
All of us at Hot Hot Hoops wish Josh a speedy recovery.
