Surprising no one, the Miami Heat announced today that they have re-signed forward Okaro White to a second 10-day contract.
White has steadily been playing more and more significant minutes since being called up from the Heat’s NBA D-League affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce and has responded with excellent play on both ends of the court.
Miami has gone 5-0 since signing White on Jan. 17. He has appeared in four games with the Heat and averaged 3.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.00 blocks and 16.4 minutes while shooting 50 percent (5-of-10) from the field, 40 percent (2-of-5) from three-point range and a perfect 3-of-3 from the foul line.
White earlier appeared in 23 games (all starts) with the Heat’s D-League affiliate team the Sioux Falls Skyforce, averaging 18.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.09 steals and 33.0 minutes while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 86 percent from the foul line. He is second on the team in points (424), rebounds (201), field goals made (144), three-point field goals made (38) and free throws made (98).
He was originally signed by the Heat on July 15, 2016 and appeared in six preseason games (averaging 5.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.5 minutes) as well as five Summer League games in Las Vegas (averaging 8.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.00 steals).
