The same day starting small forward Rodney McGruder sustained a stress fracture in his leg that could lead him to miss most of the season, another Heat player suffered an injury, albeit a much less severe one.
Okaro White had a mild shoulder sprain in Miami’s win over the Washington Wizards last night. He will travel with the team to Kansas City for the Heat’s preseason game against the Philadelphia 76ers, but won’t play.

White may get some playing time this season, as Erik Spoelstra will have to rearrange his rotation in light of McGruder’s injury. White first signed with the Heat at mid-season last year and played in 35 games, averaging 13.5 minutes. Justise Winslow, Josh Richardson and Wayne Ellington could also see their roles expand.
It’s smart for the Heat to hold out White tomorrow. The last thing Miami needs is for White to re-aggravate his shoulder sprain, damaging the Heat’s depth before the season even starts.
