Bam Adebayo just had his best game of the season

He’s learning how to be at the right place in the right time.

The Miami Heat rookie from Kentucky played a total of 6 minutes in his first 3 games of the season with two DNP-CDs. Since then, Bam Adebayo has been getting more minutes and showing more promise.

Yet to have any play called specifically for him, Adebayo just had his best game of the young season. In 31 minutes, he had 13 points and 13 rebounds (10 offensive). He’s learning how to be in the right place at the right time on the glass, and often times in pick and roll.

Watch this highlight video from his performance last night in the loss to Minnesota...

You can see he has a great understanding of where the missed shot is going to end up, and he goes and gets it. He is feasting on the penetration by Heat guards causing his defender to come and help, and then Bam cleans it up.

Hassan Whiteside made his mark early with the Heat by simply catching lobs. Adebayo is learning how to do that for Miami and also showing his rebounding skills. In the Summer League we saw him with a bit of a post game. At 20 years old, we may see more of that throughout the next few years.

For now, the Heat need him to continue to do the dirty work and watch his game increase. Adebayo has earned some playing time even when Hassan Whiteside comes back.
