Facing back-to-back games in Charlotte and Miami, the Heat called up Derrick Walton Jr. from Sioux Falls as a precautionary measure. He joined in the morning shootaround prior to tonight’s game.
Derrick Walton Jr. has re-joined the HEAT from @SFSkyforce as part of his two-way contract.
Hassan Whiteside and Justise Winslow did not make the trip to Charlotte for the Heat’s game against the Hornets. This leaves room for Walton to help the Heat at the guard position, if an injury happens during the game. Winslow’s unexpected knee strain left the team scrambling to fill his void in the second half.
In 8 games for the Skyforce, he averaged 14.5 points on 41.2% shooting, 35.7% from beyond 3-point line, 3 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 3.1 turnovers, 1.3 steals per 32.3 minutes a game. He has a net rating in the G-League of -8.5, with OffRtg of 102.2. and DefRtg of 110.6.
He scored over 20 points twice, and has a positive plus/minus only one time in his eight games for the Skyforce. A.J. Hammons and Matt Williams remain available to join the Heat as part of their contracts with Miami.
