The Miami Heat took a team photo when visited Mexico City earlier this month. Some used the image to criticize Dion Waiters’ weight. But the Heat guard has a response.

Waiters said that he wore two layers when the team photo was taken and that he’s in the best shape of his life, at 219 points and six percent body fat.

That photo may have taken some Heat fans by surprise. Waiters posted a shirtless photo on his since-deleted Instagram account shortly after the 2016-17 season, displaying a side-by-side comparison of his body from signing with the Heat in the 2016 summer to the end of the season. Some fans may have thought that Waiters was less disciplined about staying in shape after signing a four-year, $52 million contract with the Heat last summer. Not so.

And now we can get on to more pressing matters — like how the Heat can get healthy and advance in the playoff hunt.
