Always at the forefront of social media interaction, fan engagement and technology, the Miami Heat have earned the 2017 Webby Award for best Sports App.

The app was honored for its content, navigation and visual design by The Webbys, which was established in 1996 and consists of the 2,000 member judging body of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

“As leaders in digital innovation, we’re honored to get this recognition,” said HEAT Vice President of Mobile Strategy and Innovation, Matthew Jafarian. “We’re constantly trying to take our fan experience to a higher level and will continue to explore ways to do that through technology.”

By using an innovative location-based system, fans can use the app to purchase or re-sell tickets and to make purchases at the AmericanAirlines Arena with a mobile wallet.

Beginning with the 2017-18 season, all Heat games at AA Arena will use mobile only entry. That means no more paper tickets and you’ll need to use your smartphone for access.

Adopting mobile only entry is all about improving the fan experience at the AmericanAirlines Arena. Mobile only entry will make getting into the Arena seamless, simple, and fast. You’ll be able to manage everything from your smartphone. It means being able to enhance your experience at the touch of a button. It also means we're doing right by the environment in trying to create a paperless environment here at 601 Biscayne!

The Miami Heat app is available at the Apple App Store and Google Play. For more info on mobile only entry at the AmericanAirlines Arena, you can visit the Miami Heat’s site for a detailed breakdown.
