The newest addition to the proud Miami Heat franchise is Bam Adebayo!
Adebayo comes to South Beach after spending his first and only collegiate season at the University of Kentucky. He became the third Wildcat to be selected in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Bam wasn’t on many Heat fans’ radars, but he is a solid player nonetheless. The Kentucky big man averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds on 59.9% shooting from the floor in 30 minutes of action per contest. While he didn’t blow away the stat sheet, Adebayo brings a lot of energy and athleticism to the team. Oh, and his 7-foot wingspan doesn’t hurt, either.
Pat Riley spoke about the fourteenth selection of the draft (quotes via Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel):
"We're lacking depth in the front court. He's an above the rim player for real, while other guys try to play above the rim. It's a wow factor. He's an above-the-rim player for real while other guys try to play above the rim.”
The Miami Heat announced the team’s selection via Twitter:

While there was a large contingent of the Heat fan base hoping to see either John Collins or TJ Leaf in South Beach, Adebayo is a great addition to the Heat. According to Synergy Sports, Adebayo led all 2017 prospects in dunks by 29! Spo will surely love that kind of explosion on his basketball squad.

He isn’t just a dunker, though, He tells Anthony Chiang of the Palm Beach Post that he surprises teams with his shot:
Adebayo said teams were surprised with his ability to shoot. "Everybody thought I couldn’t shoot & I got to my workouts & they were shocked”— Anthony Chiang (@Anthony_Chiang) June 23, 2017
