We’re creeping into mid-August, and Kyrie Irving is still a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Will Irving have to start training camp with the player he laughed at earlier this summer?
For what it’s worth, Hassan Whiteside joined Kyrie Irving and other NBA players, including John Wall, in a workout recently.

And now the Heat’s newly signed shooting guard commented with a quote only Dion Waiters could come up with: “There’s an alpha male over there already,” he said, talking about himself. “If you come there, we can boogie together.”
Speaking with HipHopSince1987, Waiters echoed many sentiments he expressed in his essay for the Player’s Tribune. In that essay, Waiters says that he “has to” think he’s the best player in the NBA because, “You think you can survive in Philly without irrational confidence?” In the recent interview, Waiters hit on the same tune.

Here is Waiters’ full quote:
“It would help. I’m not against that. Just know there’s an alpha male over there too in myself. I think that’s my biggest thing with everybody, ‘Oh he got irrational confidence…’ Man, I tell everybody, if I can make it from here, I can make it from anywhere. My mom got shot, my dad got shot. C’mon bro, there ain’t nothing that I haven’t seen. Why not? I need that confidence to get through. Every day I need that confidence to get by. It ain’t got nothin’ to do with ball. It’s who I am. It was instilled in me. But you know, there’s an alpha male over there already. If you come there, we can boogie together.”
Irving and Waiters were teammates during Waiters’ stint with the Cavaliers after getting drafted in 2012. Will they have another go-around together? We’ll see.
