As expected, Okaro White and Rodney McGruder will receive partially guaranteed contracts from the Miami Heat. With the August 1st deadline now passed each player is guaranteed at least $453,000 for this season. If they are on the opening-night roster, their contracts would become fully guaranteed at $1.3 million.
Ira Winderman explains their contract intricacies saying:
The partial guarantees were put in place when McGruder was signed before the start of last season and White was signed in the middle of this past season.
White previously received a partial guarantee in advance of his appearance with the Heat's summer-league team.
Both players were key in Miami’s late season stretch last season, but their Heat futures remain ambiguous. The Heat are allowed to have 20 players on their roster during the offseason, but must cut down to 15 for the start of the season.
In 35 games played last season, Okaro White averaged 2.8 points and 2.3 rebounds.
In 65 games played last season, McGruder averaged 6.4 points, 1.6 assists, and 3.3 rebounds.
