Wade says he wants to play for championship contender

New, comments

Wade’s comments appear to signal that he would rather play for the Cleveland Cavaliers than the Heat after a buyout.

It’s no secret that Dwyane Wade will likely come to buyout agreement with the rebuilding Chicago Bulls before this season’s end. And speaking to David Aldridge, Wade seemed to say that the Cleveland Cavaliers would hold an advantage over the Miami Heat as a mid-season destination.

Wade responded to Aldridge asking him what his preference would be with the following:

“First of all, obviously, everyone wants to compete,” Wade said. “It’s no secret. We would all love to compete for a championship at the end of my career. That is one thing I would love to do. I’m not in a position right now to do that, so I can’t talk about what that preference is. Hopefully, one day before I’m done playing this game, I can be back in position to compete for a championship.”

Wade’s answer seems to confirm what LeBron James’ associates apparently think — that the two friends will team up again. The Heat remain a few pieces away from championship contention and signed shooting guard Dion Waiters to a four-year contract earlier this summer.
