It’s been reported that former Miami Heat player Rasual Butler has passed away following a car crash. TMZ Reports that Butler lost control of Range Rover around 2AM, hit a parking meter and subsequently a wall, the car flipped. They say officers believed the car was speeding. Butler’s wife, Leah LaBelle who was riding with him at the time of the accident has also passed away.
Butler was drafted by Miami in 2002, where he played until 2005. He was well loved by both the Heat organization and fans. Butler played in the NBA for 12 years, last seeing time in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs in 2016. His last on court action was in the “Big Three” league.
The Miami Heat have issued a formal statement on Rasual’s passing:
