Despite a strong start, the Heat would go cold down the stretch to lose another game at home.

1st Quarter

After a terrible loss against the Pistons yesterday, the Heat needed a win (post game note: they didn’t get one). Luckily they’d have more weapons at their disposal tonight, with Goran Dragic back. Dragon’s presence was felt right away as the Heat quarterback, as he spaced the floor and found open men with ease.

Despite the Wizards drawing first blood, Miami went to work right away with Justise, Rodney Mcgruder and Josh Richardson putting up a barrage of buckets to go an 8-0 run.

After the 8-0 run, the Wizards turned the tables delivering an 8-0 run of their own to get within one. With the game so close, the game became a back and forth battle in the final minutes of the first. Luckily, Miami would go on another small run to end the quarter thanks to Bam Adebayo, JRich and Rodney McGruder.

Second Quarter

Miami didn’t let up to start the second quarter, continuing to do damage on the offensive end. The Heat’s defense was also very solid to start, clearly frustrating the Wizards’ offense.

It’s safe to say Josh Richardson has broken out of his short slump, he was huge from beyond the arc in the first and a menace on both ends in the second.

Despite Miami’s solid play, the Wizards found life again on a nice run to stay within 5. The Heat also got into a small scoring drought, but would shoot out of it just in time.

Miami would tread water for the last few minutes of the half, as they made silly mistakes and some avoidable fouls. Miami would escape the half only up by three.

Third Quarter

The third did not start well for Miami as the Wizards dominated the glass and stole the lead. Luckily the Heat would regain their bearings and fight back to within two.

Around the seven minute mark, the lead would start to fluctuate as both teams went back and forth. During this back and forth battle, Miami would have their moments including a great Hassan slam, and a Rodney McGruder go ahead three.

Luckily the Heat would catch fire and go on an 11-1 run around the 5 minute mark of the third led by McGruder. The Wizards would pull back in to tie things up.

The Heat would catch a few lucky breaks towards the end of the quarter and head into the final quarter up 2.

Fourth Quarter:

The Wizards would steal the lead to start the fourth on a 9-1 run to go up 6. It’s not like the Heat weren’t getting good looks, they were, but just not sinking shots. It seemed like the Heat had run out of scoring options for a while ( a testament to how many guards were in foul trouble).

With so much foul trouble, the Heat lost a lot of their defensive aggressiveness and the Wiz took full advantage going up by ten and just embarrassing the Heat.

After having a tight grasp of the game early, the Heat just lost all control in the second half. Josh Richardson would also suffer a nasty ankle roll in the final minutes.

It was all bad down the stretch. The Heat really need to shake things up in the coming days, these losses can’t happen.
