The NBA has announced that Erik Spoelstra has been awarded the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month award for the month of January.
Spoelstra guided the Heat to a 10-5 record, tied for the best record in the East for the month, including 5-1 at home and an impressive 3-1 record in games decided by a point. Miami opened 2018 with six consecutive victories and now lead the Southeast Division with a 29-22 record, as well as fourth seed in the East.
This is the eighth time Spoelstra has won the award, the most in team history, and the 16th time a Heat head coach has won it.

Miami’s 10 wins in the month are their most in January since going 12-5 in 2012, according to the Heat. The team also held opponents to 30.3 percent from three-point range and 43 percent from the field, both the second-lowest percentages in the NBA, while limiting opposing teams to 97.8 points per game, the third-lowest average in January.
