Rodney McGruder impresses in G League debut

Rodney McGruder, who started at small forward last year, hasn’t played in an NBA game since he underwent preseason leg surgery. But he made a big step forward Saturday, scoring 16 points on 8-of-17 shooting and grabbing five rebounds for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in a win over the South Bay Lakers.

McGruder looked ready for NBA action, quickly running the floor and grabbing rebounds in traffic. Make sure you watch the end of this highlight video for a nice dish McGruder makes to Derrick Jones Jr., who has a two-way contract with the Miami Heat.

McGruder will play in the Skyforce’s next matchup Monday against the Agua Caliente Clippers. He may be available for his NBA season debut Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.
