During his end-of-season press conference, Pat Riley did not mince words when he discussed Hassan Whiteside, who was unhappy with his lack of playing time during the playoffs and earned a fine for complaining about playing time a month ago.
Riley, on Spoelstra playing Whiteside limited minutes in postseason: "I would have taken him out of the game, too, the way he was performing."

These comments were a bit reminiscent of Riley’s post-2014 NBA Finals press conference, in which the Heat President said, “you don’t find the first door and run out of it” when asked about LeBron James’ impending free agency. Riley may not see a beneficial trade for Whiteside on the horizon, but hopes that this public challenge will lead to a better player by training camp.
