It’s no secret that Josh Richardson is one of the best defensive players in the NBA. This season Josh recorded over 120 steals and 70 blocks. Which only two other players managed to do (Ben Simmons and Robert Covington) according to Simon Smith of Hoops Habit.
Unfortunately, Josh did not qualify for the All-NBA Defensive Team after finishing 16th in voting.
Josh Richardson fails to make NBA All-Defensive teams, places 16th in the voting. Spoelstra had pushed Richardson's candidacy. No votes for Whiteside or any other Heat player.— Ira Winderman (@IraHeatBeat) May 23, 2018
Couper Moorhead does a great job breaking down Josh’s defensive ability here:
Josh was a beast in the playoffs and consistent nearly all season. Erik Spoelstra has been vocal about him being deserving of the All-NBA Defensive Team honor, but it appears others disagree.
Josh himself was surprised with the decision tweeting this earlier today:

One things for certain, Josh is going to have a chip on his shoulder next season.
