The Miami Heat have announced they have signed guard/forward Derrick Jones Jr. on the first day of the NBA free agency period.

Though terms of the deal were not disclosed in the official press release, Sun-Sentinel beat writer Ira Winderman reports that it’s a standard NBA minimum contract that is guaranteed in the first year.

Jones originally signed a two-way contract with the Heat on December 31, 2017 and appeared in 14 games with eight starts averaging 3.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 15.2 minutes of action. He also played in 13 games with the Heat’s G-League affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce, averaging 19.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.69 blocks, 1.46 steals and 29.1 minutes.
