USA Today Sports’ reporter, Sam Amick tweeted recently that the Rockets would consider a trade for one of the Johnsons in exchange for Ryan Anderson. At first glance this looks like a trade that might benefit both sides, for one TJ’s giant contract could come off Miami’s books with the Rockets getting a young explosive guard. Or the Rockets would get a Miami Heat conditioned James Johnson and the Heat a solid floor spacer and shooter in Anderson.
Now...a possible Rockets deal sending Ryan Anderson to Miami for James Johnson or Tyler Johnson, or someone else the Houston brass thinks can help? That’s definitely something they’d have interest in (no specific position targeted). But Bazemore isn’t part of their discussions.— Sam Amick (@sam_amick) August 8, 2018
That’s not really the case though. Especially when you factor in Ryan Anderson’s contract of 41 million dollars over the next two seasons. So the Heat wouldn’t really be saving any money, plus Ryan Anderson has been injury prone in the past.
The only thing connecting this rumour to even a strand of truth is James Johnson deleting all his Heat related Instagrams, and Chris Paul liking one of his new pictures. And if anything that just creates a shaky trade rumour.
But that’s where we are, a summer where the Heat haven’t made many moves so any rumours warrant a discussion.
Do so below. What do you think? Is this an impossible trade, is there any benefit at all to Miami doing a trade like this?
