The Miami Heat’s official Twitter account announced Tuesday that Dion Waiters will travel with the team to Cleveland and is listed as questionable to play in Wednesday’s game against the Cavaliers.
INJURY UPDATE: Dion Waiters (ankle) will travel with the team today to Cleveland and is listed as questionable to play tomorrow night vs the Cavs.

Waiters has not played an NBA game since Dec. 22, 2017 — yes, he missed all of the last calendar year. He underwent season-ending ankle surgery in January 2018. In fact, Dwyane Wade was not a member of the Heat when Waiters last played.
Even with Goran Dragic out until the All-Star break, it’s hard to see where Waiters fits into Miami’s rotation. Justise Winslow, Josh Richardson, Rodney McGruder, Tyler Johnson and Wade have established roles for the Heat. Wayne Ellington, who was a key cog for Miami’s previous two seasons with his 3-point shooting, has never really made it in the rotation this year. How can Waiters fit in?
In other news, it looks like James Johnson will play tomorrow night after missing the Heat’s Sunday evening loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves with an illness.
James Johnson looks to be over his stomach bug. He was back at practice today and is on track to play tomorrow vs. Cavaliers.
