Dion Waiters was suspended for the Miami Heat’s season opener Wednesday night for conduct detrimental to the team. Although his suspension is over, he won’t play in Miami’s next two games.

After Waiters was suspended, he took shots at Erik Spoelstra and Tyler Herro on Instagram. The Heat will have their first back-to-back set this weekend, in Milwaukee on Saturday and Minnesota on Sunday.

With Jimmy Butler out, Waiters may have felt that he could have offered some scoring punch in the season opener Wednesday night. But another guard provided that — undrafted rookie Kendrick Nunn, who scored 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting.

Waiters has a $1.2 million bonus in his contract if he plays 70 games this season. He’ll now have to miss nine games at most from here on out to get that bonus.
