The Miami Heat have an excellent opportunity tonight to win their sixth straight home game to open the season against the Cleveland Cavaliers, losers of four straight and five out of their seven road games played.
Both teams could continue to miss key players, with the Heat’s depth taking a hit already this early in the season while the Cavs may be without Kevin Love (back) and Larry Nance Jr. (sprained thumb), who both sat out in their loss to the lowly New York Knicks on Monday. Justise Winslow (concussion) and Derrick Jones Jr. (hip) will likely continue to sit out, while the status of Goran Dragic, who missed Saturday’s game with an illness, remains unknown.
The Heat defeated the Cavaliers 108-97 last Thursday, highlighted by Kendrick Nunn’s 23 points and Bam Adebayo’s 16 points and 15 rebounds in a game in which they never trailed.
As long as they continue to show the same form they’ve displayed so far at the AmericanAirlines Arena this season, the Heat can avoid any semblance of a trap game and be able to continue one of their best starts to a season ever.
