Bam Adebayo has been released from Team USA following their intrasquad scrimmage on Friday night. With that, he will not be participating in the FIBA World Cup. He wasn’t the only player cut last night, with NBA veteran Thaddeus Young headed home as well.
Bam was a late invitation to the Team USA training camp, and performed very well according to the snippets seen on social media.

According to the Miami Herald, he was excited about the prospect of going to China and being the first Team USA player to represent the Heat since LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
While this can be taken as a disappointment, Bam’s time in Las Vegas has no doubt made him a better player. That much talent, and elite coaching in one place is rare to come by and from what we know about Bam’s work ethic he definitely made the most of it. He also left the team uninjured which is huge considering the Kelly Olynyk scare earlier in the week.
Bam is expected to play a large role with the Heat this season, hopefully his experience with Team USA left him ready to prove the doubters wrong.
