UPDATE: Shams Charania reported that Derrick Jones Jr. has accepted an invitation to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s Ira Winderman reported Thursday that Derrick Jones Jr. will receive an invitation to the Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend.

Jones finished as the runner-up for the Slam Dunk Contest in 2017, back when he played for the Phoenix Suns. The NBA ranked a dunk of his from March 2019 as the 13th-best dunk of the 2010s.

The Heat could have a lot of representation during All-Star Weekend in Chicago next month. In addition to Jones’ participation in the Slam Dunk Contest, Duncan Robinson may compete in the 3-Point Shooting Contest. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo may be All-Stars, and Kendrick Nunn and Tyler Herro may play in the Rising Stars Challenge.
