Game Preview: Heat start 2020 at home vs Raptors

New, comments

The Miami Heat have another pivotal Eastern Conference matchup when they host the Toronto Raptors.

Game Story:

The Miami Heat (24-9) are coming off a pretty bad loss to end 2019 when they fell to the Washington Wizards who were without a plethora of players. That led the Erik Spoelstra having a training camp-like practice yesterday with a renewed emphasis on defense. The Heat, third in the East, need to continue their dominance at home as they play the Toronto Raptors (23-11).

The Heat went into Toronto a few weeks ago and got an overtime win to break the Raptors own home win streak...so they will be motivated to get a win in Miami. Kyle Lowry played pretty subpar that game, and he should be set to give Kendrick Nunn much more of a hassle.

The Raptors will likely be without Pascal Siakim and Marc Gasol as well as Norman Powell. But clearly, injuries are just an opportunity for someone else to step up. This should be a good game.

FiveThirtyEight has the Heat with a 53% chance to win this game.

Probable Starters:

Heat:

  • Jimmy Butler
