According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Achiuwa will earn $2.6 million this season and $2.7 million next year. Like all other rookie deals, the third and fourth years are team options. Miami could issue a qualifying offer to Achiuwa in the 2024 offseason to keep him under contract for a fifth season.
Achiuwa will join a big man rotation that includes Adebayo, Meyers Leonard, Kelly Olynyk, Chris Silva and Udonis Haslem. Of course, we could also see Moe Harkless and possibly even KZ Okpala shift to the power forward spot during the season.
The Heat’s 21-year-old draft pick played one season at Memphis before the COVID-19 pandemic halted the college basketball season. He averaged 15.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
