The Miami Heat are opening up their 2020-2021 NBA campaign with their first of two preseason games when they host the New Orleans Pelicans. It will be their first game at AmericanAirlines Arena since March 11, the night the NBA season was postponed due to COVID-19. Although no fans will be in attendance, it should be a welcomed sight to see the Heat logo back in the center of the court.
For the Heat, this game will be about seeing how a few new pieces can fit into a good core of players. Avery Bradley, Precious Achiuwa, and Moe Harkless should all get a little bit of action on Monday night.
Miami will likely only play their heavy rotation for 20 minutes or even less. Their opponent? The Pelicans shifted their roster so much that second-year phenom Zion Williamson is the longest-tenured player on the roster. It’s unsure what we will see from them — especially since the Pelicans will be back in Miami for a Christmas Day matchup.
It’s a preseason game, so there’s not much to break down matchup-wise or beyond because it is anyone’s guess who will be on the floor. But we can’t wait to watch it!
