Game Preview: Heat host Cavaliers, Dwyane Wade jersey retirement ceremony

New, comment

In what is sure to be an emotional night, the Heat still need to take care of business at home.

Game Story:

The Miami Heat (35-20) are set to retire Dwyane Wade’s jersey in a halftime ceremony during their home game tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The franchise already kicked off the festivities honoring Wade’s incredible career last night with the “Flashback L3GACY Celebration” event, but #3 will officially go into the rafters tonight against one of Wade’s former teams (which is still weird to type).

Miami desperately need to get back on track after a troubling loss against the lowly Atlanta Hawks after the All-Star break. Thankfully, they’re back at the AmericanAirlines Arena where they are 22-3 and they face the Cavaliers (15-40) who are in last place in the Eastern Conference and in turmoil after parting ways with first-year coach John Beilein and promoting J.B. Bickerstaff to head coach. They were able to beat the host Washington Wizards in their first game after Beilein’s departure, but still have an 8-18 record on the road and have already lost to the Heat twice this season.

The two teams will face off against each other in Cleveland on Monday before the Heat begin a five-game homestand on Wednesday.

Tyler Herro and Meyers Leonard remain out for the Heat. Cavs big man Ante Zizic is also out.

FiveThirtyEight has the Heat with a 90% chance to win tonight.
