New, comments

So much to choose from! What has been the best on-court play for the Heat this season? Our writers discuss and you can add in yours!

It’s been a year filled with some great plays so we have to ask the question: if you could pinpoint the best play on the court so far this season, what would it be?

That’s what our writers are looking at in this discussion...but remember, we want to hear from you, too!

Here’s what we think:

MATT PINEDA: @pinedaHEATButler’s steal and Tyler Herro’s Clutch Three vs Sixers

The Heat were about to have the game out of reach and then instead of fouling, Jimmy Butler knocks the ball out of his old teammates hands causing a steal, and the presence of mind from Tyler Herro to not only go score, but to step back and take the three for the lead — it had the place rocking. Although the game would go into OT, this was the play of the year for me.

DIEGO QUEZADA: @DiegoHeatNBABam Adebayo’s game-saving block on Eric Bledsoe

Bam Adebayo reminded us of the LeBron James chase-down block with this one. With the Heat clinging to a three-point lead in overtime, Adebayo met Bledsoe at the rim and secured a hard-fought win.

Surya Fernandez: @SuryaHeatNBA — Defense leads to offense in blowout win vs Rockets

This play didn’t directly win a game for the Heat and likely won’t be included in any “best of” highlight reels but it does exemplify the heart the team had this season. Tucked away early in their 129-100 annihilation of the visiting Houston Rockets six games into the season, the Heat proved their early season success wasn’t a fluke. Miami led by as many as 41 points thanks to plays like this one in which Duncan Robinson blocks a 3-point attempt, the Heat take their time to find the open man by spreading the floor and it results in a wide-open corner 3 by Robinson for the 6-point swing.

BRANDON DI PERNO @brandon_diperno - DJJ Acrobatic Layup:

This one is fairly obvious to me. I mean can you believe this? How does someone even pull this off. Unforgettable play. Derrick Jones Jr. has had highlight dunks all season — even won the Slam Dunk Contest, but this layup/meant to be dunk was something special.
