The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reported that “there’s support on the Heat coaching staff to re-sign Meyers Leonard” when he becomes a free agent.

And that support appears to be mutual. Remember that Leonard said he’s “in a good place” in Miami last month.
This revelation is significant for the Heat’s future plans. Some have advocated for the Heat to select stretch-5 with their first-round draft pick this year to replace Leonard — the argument being that Miami should prioritize re-signing Goran Dragic, Jae Crowder and Derrick Jones Jr.
The NBA is expected to start free agency Oct. 18, with the league returning July 31.
