GAME STORY

The Miami Heat (6-9) get a chance to avenge Saturday night’s close loss to the Brooklyn Nets (10-8) with another road game against the Big 3 trio of James Harden, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving tonight.

Miami continues to be without the services of Jimmy Butler and Avery Bradley due to COVID-19 safety and health protocols. Until we hear otherwise, the team is also expected to also be without Tyler Herro (neck) and Meyers Leonard (shoulder) again tonight. Maurice Harkless (thigh) and Chris Silva (hip) are listed as day-to-day.

Brooklyn leads the NBA with an average of 120.3 points per game and in FG percentage. The Heat must figure out a way to contain the Nets’ shooters, including Joe Harris who punished the Heat early and often with his barrage of 3-pointers. Harden was uncharacteristically quiet from the field on Saturday but the Heat still had difficulties keeping up with Brooklyn offensively despite managing to contain their turnovers.

With Miami shorthanded yet again, they will need another huge game from Bam Adebayo, who is coming off a career-high 41 points against the Nets. The All-Star forward showcased a variety of offensive moves and mid-range jumpers and he’ll have to do it all over again if the Heat hope to leave Brooklyn with at least one victory. Big games from Duncan Robinson, Goran Dragic and Kendrick Nunn would also seem to be virtually mandatory to ensure a win these days with the Heat missing vital players.

ODDS: FiveThirtyEight gives the Heat just a 21% chance to win the game.

HEAT VS NETS: MONDAY, JANUARY 25 AT 7:30 PM.
