The Miami Heat (12-17) will try to get their second straight win on their West Coast trip when they face the Los Angeles Lakers (22-8) tonight in a nationally televised game on ABC. The two teams have not played each other since the NBA Finals in the Orlando bubble.
Though the Heat will be without Goran Dragic against the Lakers, just like in the Finals, but they’re catching a major break with Anthony Davis also sitting out. The All-Star big man is expected to be out for roughly 3-4 weeks with an injured right Achilles and last played Feb. 14 in a loss to the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers split their last two games without him, including a 109-98 loss to the visiting Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night.
Even with their last win, the Heat are only 11th in the Eastern Conference and must continue to find ways to win in order to move up the standings. Even without Davis playing, the Heat must count on another pair of dominating performances from Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler tonight after coming off triple-double games against the Sacramento Kings.
ODDS: FiveThirtyEight gives the Heat a 30% chance to win the game.
