GAME PREVIEW: Heat take losing streak to New York to face Knicks

New, comments

Miami starts fresh in another bid to end their losing streak.

NBA: New York Knicks at Miami Heat Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

GAME STORY

The Miami Heat (22-24) have now lost six straight games, and possibly lost out on their chance at signing LaMarcus Aldridge in the process, as they visit the New York Knicks on Monday night. The Knicks have won three straight but could be shorthanded, as are the Heat, with several key players listed as out or day-to-day as well as unavailable due to recent trades or COVID protocols.

At the moment it seems difficult to properly gauge what to expect tonight with the status of so many players up in the air, but regardless of who is playing for the Heat they must play with some urgency because they have simply been outplayed during this alarming losing streak. The defense has been porous and the shots haven’t been falling.

Perhaps an infusion of new blood like Victor Oladipo will help matters in the long run but tonight can’t be a repeat performance of their listless game against the Charlotte Hornets — in which they dug themselves too large of a hole early in the first half only to ultimately fall short after a furious late rally.

ODDS: FiveThirtyEight gives the Heat a 59% chance to win the game.
