GAME PREVIEW: Heat take on the Suns

New, comments

The Miami Heat look to continue their road success when they visit the Phoenix Suns.

NBA: Phoenix Suns at Miami Heat Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Heat (28-25) will play their 2nd game of a 4-game west coast road trip when they visit the Phoenix Suns (38-15) late Tuesday night. Phoenix will be Miami’s second straight opponent that will be on the back-side of a back-to-back as the Suns hosted the Rockets on Monday night. In that game, former Heat forward Jae Crowder made 8-12 threes and scored a game-high 26 points — hopefully that is out of his system.

However, the Heat will be on the frontside of a back-to-back as they will play in Denver (notoriously a scheduled loss) on Wednesday night.

Miami is coming off an impressive defensive performance as they beat and held Portland to 98 points on Sunday. Kendrick Nunn scored 15 points returning to the starting lineup after four straight DNPs.

On March 23, the Suns beat the Heat pretty easily in Miami — who was without Goran Dragic. The Suns shot 50% for the game and Miami got a 25 point game from Kendrick Nunn in that contest. The Heat will need another defensive performance to slow down Phoenix, one of the hottest teams in the NBA. It was worth it to stay up and watch the late game against Portland, hopefully this will be a good one to stay up for as well.

The Suns are the top ball moving team in the NBA with 27.3 APG and they couple that ball movement with a top 3 defense, giving up 107.4 PPG. A team five team in points, Phoenix is a problem and has been handling teams easier than normal.

ODDS: FiveThirtyEight gives the Heat only a 30% chance to win the game.
