The Miami Heat (28-26) will visit the Denver Nuggets on the third stop of their 4-game west trip. The Heat fell to the Suns last night scoring only 86 points while they got toasted by Phoenix’s second unit.
The Heat will again be without Victor Oladipo but the biggest injury news is that this will be the Nuggets first game without Jamal Murray since learning that he has a season-ending ACL injury.
The Nuggets crushed the Heat back in January in Miami — just completely embarrassed them. So Miami has hopefully a better fight ahead of them in this game. Nikola Jokic is 10th in the NBA with 26.2 PPG and a MVP candidate. The Heat will need to work some magic defensively to slow him down as he is the engine for this team.
The Heat’s biggest advantage could come in the back court — with Herro and Duncan possibly having less to worry about defensively, they could make a bigger impact on the game. The Heat will have to be creative in the defensive scheme because they will fall out of place quickly if anyone on the roster other than Bam gets switched onto Jokic.
If Miami can shoot better than their performance last night, they have a better chance. But this game will be won defensively.
ODDS: FiveThirtyEight gives the Heat only a 21% chance to win the game.
