For a detailed look at just how critical these games are for the Heat (and the Celtics) check out Diego Quezada’s analysis of these two pivotal games.
The Heat smacked the Celtics in the first half on Sunday, scoring 79 points in 24 minutes before winning the game 130-124. Boston didn’t go down without a fight. The Heat got great contributions from Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, and Goran Dragic — and that is their recipe for success.
Since that game, we have learned that Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown will be out for the remainder of the season with wrist surgery. That is a devastating blow for Boston. With a win, the Heat assures themselves to avoid the play-in tournament, which is a big deal. And a win keeps them tied with Atlanta for fifth.
With a loss, the Heat would only be one game up on the Celtics and Boston owning the tie-breaker. The Heat play Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Detroit next to finish the season. This is an important game.
ODDS: FiveThirtyEight gives the Heat just a 39% chance to win the game.
