The Miami Heat announced today that Victor Oladipo has decided to undergo season-ending surgery in New York tomorrow, May 13, on his right quadriceps tendon. There is no timetable for his return.
Oladipo went down with the injury late in the final quarter of his fourth game as a Miami Heat player. He had previously sought medical opinions with the team’s consent, and the team’s short press release specifically points out that Oladipo himself decided to proceed with the surgery. This is the same right knee the former All-Star guard injured in January of 2019 when he suffered a torn quadriceps tendon as a member of the Indiana Pacers.
This also marks the first time the Heat has specified the injury as being located on the right quadriceps tendon. Injury reports for subsequent games vaguely described Oladipo as having right knee soreness and no timeframe to rejoin the team.
Oladipo was acquired by the Heat in a trade with the Houston Rockets on March 25.
