GAME PREVIEW: Heat take on Bucks with playoff positioning on the line

With just two games left in the regular season, Miami must bring the playoff intensity tonight.

GAME STORY

The Miami Heat (39-31) are coming off giving the Philadelphia 76ers a thorough beatdown at home two nights ago, but must now hit the road to face the Milwaukee Bucks (45-25) in another all-important clash to determine playoff seeding.

This is another must-win game to avoid facing the Bucks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, so a victory would go a long way to locking up the fourth or fifth seed, which would mean facing the Atlanta Hawks or New York Knicks instead.

For more detailed info on what’s at stake for the Heat in these final two games, check out Matt Hanifan’s article on the fight for playoff positioning between the Heat, Hawks and Knicks.

Bam Adebayo and the Heat have had success in the past guarding Giannis Antetokounmpo, most notably in the playoffs last year, but the perennial MVP candidate is coming off a monster game in which he scored 40 points in the Bucks’ 142-133 win against the Indiana Pacers. Just like the Heat, they are also relatively healthy but both teams may choose to sit out some players for load management purposes.

This is the third time these two teams have faced each other this season. The Bucks blew out the Heat 144-97 in the first game on Dec. 29, while the Heat got revenge with a 119-108 victory the following day.

ODDS: FiveThirtyEight gives the Heat just a 31% chance to win the game.
